Reconstruction of the anterior chest wall by means of acrylic resin plate following partial resection of the sternum with renal cancer metastasis a case report.

When the anterior chest wall is resected widely, it is necessary to reconstruct it in order to restore pulmonary function. We reported a case with metastatic renal cancer of the sternum. Whose anterior chest wall was reconstructed by means of acrylic resin plate following wide resection of the tumor.A 58-year-old male presented to our hospital because of painful swelling in the left sternoclavicular region. The specimen of open biopsy revealed metastasis of renal cancer. The upper half of the syernum, the medial portion of the bilateral 1st, 2nd, and 3rd ribs, and the medial part of the bilateral clavicles were resected. The defect of the anterior chest wall following the resection was reconstructed by means of acrylic resin plate with wire fixation. Ten months after the operation, the patient had no symptom, and there has been no recurrence to date. The range of motion of the shoulders is almost normal, and the patient is satisfied with his chest appearance.
