Vascularized Myocutaneous Flap for Complications after Wide Resection for Malignant Musculoskeletal Tumor.

In order to treat post operative complications after wide resection for malignant musculoskeletal tumors, we performed vascularized myocutaneous flap on six subjects.Four of the cases suffered from skin necrosis or superficial infection, one from deep infection and one from a fracture. For the vascularized myocutaneous flaps, latissimus dorsi flap was transferred in 4 cases, rectus abdominis flap in 1, and iliac osteocutaneous flap in 1. All the cases with skin necrosis or surperficial infection healed well. The clinical signs of infection disappeared in the case with deep infection. In the case with fracture, bone union was achieved radiologically.It seems that a vascularized myocutaneous flap is useful for treatment of post operative complications after wide resection for malignant musculoskeletal tumor.
