Correlation between Radiological Findings and MRI Findings in Kienboeck's Disease.

We examined the correlations between Lichtman's radiological findings and MRI findings of 20 patients in 20 wrists with Kienböck's disease. On T1-weighted image of Spin-echo pulse sequense, low signal intensity of the lunate showed a tendency to change from partial, slightly or inhomogeneous to diffuse, marked or homogeneous pattern respectively with the advancement of Lichtman's stage.On T2*-weighted image of Gradient-echo pulse sequense, the progression of collapse and the spread of high signal intensity area of the lunate was recognized with the advancement of the stage.In this study, MRI findings of Kienböck's disease corresponded well with the radiological findings except in the case of III A and III B which showed various pattern of signal intensity.
