We treated three cases of subtrochanteric fractures of the femur with the Huckstep intramedullary compression nail. Two cases were fresh comminuted fractures and the other was a case of non-union that had been surgically treated twice using compression hip screws. We determined the type of subtrochanteric fracture according to Seinsheimer's classification. The two fresh cases achieved early weight bearing within three weeks after surgery. Good bony union was obtained in all three cases and no complications such as shortening, angular deformity or rotational malalignment occurred.
