The TiO2-coated mm-size spherical ceramic particles which are very stable for dynamical impact and whose specific density is very near to unity were developed for photocatalyst carriers applied to fluidized bed reactor for purifying the water contaminated with organic compounds. Two types of test-scale fluidized bed photocatalytic reactors were designed and prepared: the reactor a which holds the ultra violet light source inside and the reactor b which holds the light source outside. Phenol and bisphenol A were selected for target contaminant and the experiments of purifying the water containing them were conducted In consequence, it was shown for the reactor a that aqueous phenol and bisphenol A can be decomposed rapidly in about 200 minutes and TOC originated from their intermediate products can be mineralized perfectly in relatively short time in 300 minutes. It was also shown that the reactor b can be applied to water purification using solar light, though the decomposition performance of the reactor is lower when compared with that of the reactor a. The performance of the reactor as well as operational condition is much improved when compared with the case when commercialized TiO2 powder would be used for fluidizing particles
