We designed a vacuum equipment to evaporate aluminum for the nylon tufta and studied the physical properties of metalized fabrics. The higher the degree of vacuum, the more the reflecting power of the metalized fabrics increases and those transparency decreases.<BR> Aboveall in the infrared region, the 'adiabatic property of the fabrics is remarkable.<BR> This property increases up to 0.3 μ in the thicknes of the membrance and is nearly constant over 0.3μ.<BR> In the low vacuum, the metalized membrances are sometimes colored with blue and brown. It seems to be the influence of wolfram WO2, W4O11 or WO3 used as a heater. The physical properties of the metalized fabrics may, therefore, be improved under the conditions which the degree of vacuum is over 10− 4 mmHg and the thickness of the membrance is over 0.3 μ.
