The structure of slivers is almost completely expressed by showing the arrangement of leading end of group of fibers ("clot" or "cluster") and frequency distribution of number of fibers in a group and of effective length and thickness of fibers in the sliver. The author defined the density of leading end of groups and formulated this as a sum of a random variance and compound harmonic oscillations as shown by equation (4). From this equation and the frequency distribution of the number of fibers in a group, the numbers of leading ends of fibers and fiber groups between x and x+y, where x was the distance measured parallel to the axis of the sliver, were formulated and their variances were calculated. The irregularity of slivers could be more completely shown by these variances than by the variance of thickness.
