• Following up the previous report, the authors have made a fundamental analysis of the squeezing mechanism y using an experimental squeezing roller apparatus. The authors have investigated particularly the effect of the hardness of the top rollers on squeezing efficiency and squeezing unevenness. The hardness of the top roller greatly influences squeezing efficiency.<BR>It has been found that there is the most suitable hardness for maximum efficiency in every load condition on the top roll. From the weight-hardness curve, it is presumed that a suitable value of hardness is 70° 8O° . The authors have studied also the causes of a decline squeezing efficiency when the metal roller is used. They have found a suitable value of top roller hardness for minimum squeezing unevenness.
