Studies on the Criteria of Pancreozymin-Secretin Test

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the value of the criteria of pancreozymin-secretintest. During these 3 years, P-S test has been performed in about 800 cases, among whichwe selected 89 cases as normal group to establish the criteria, and we calculated the mediansand the standard deviations of the volume (60min. after injection of secretin), of amylaseoutput (70min. after injection of pancreozymin) and of max. bicarbonate concentration. This study was undertaken, then, to know if we can make a diagnosis of functional disordersof pancreatic exocrine from the following criteria, and at the same time the possibilityof the diagnosis of pancreatic diseases. The results are as follows; 1) If one or more criteria is (or are) checked, the diagnosis of functional disorders ofpancreatic exocrine can be made. (A) All three factors are below the value of (M-SD). (B) Two or more factors are below the value of (M-1.5SD). (C) One or more factors is (or are) below the value of (M-2SD). 2) With regard to pancreatitis and the cancer of the pancreas, no characteristic patternsare found out. Concerning the pancreatic cyst, however, we could find out the patternscharacteristic of decreased volume and amylase output, but of normal bicarbonate concentration.
