• Sterilized stick is put in to a test tube in which sputum and 1 % or 2 % NaOH are poured, and is rotated at 1000 r.p.m. for 2 minutes. After 8 minutes'rotation the homogenized sputum is inoculated into Ogawa's medium or semi-solid Kirchner agar medium. This method is called the homogenizermethod, and in this report the use of this method for the treatment of sputum is examined.
