The electron density from 1014 to 1015 cm-3 is bard to be measured by any method. Here the electron densities from 1013 up to 1017 cm-3 of plasmas produced by electromagnetically driven shock waves of Mach no. 10-25 in argon and air at a pressure of 1.OmmHg are measured by a 35GC microwave reflection probe1 which is perpendicularly inserted into the shock tube. The measured values fairly agree with theoretically calculated ones except in low. Mach. no.
