It is proposed that high electron densities in plasmas can be determined from the complex reflection coefficient of a plane microwave at the plasma boundary. The coefficient which is related to the electron density and the collision frequency in plasmas is measured from the standing wave pattern produced by the incident and reflected wave at the boundary. As a result of the calculation, for a microwave frequency of 9000 MC, electron densities of 10^<14> and 10^<16> cm^<-3> are determinable respectively from the measurement of 11 and 11 degree in the phase angle of the complex reflection coefficient.
