Hysteresis friction, one of the components of wet friction, will be discussed by the nature of rubber viscoelasticity. The coefficient of hysteresis friction was derived from the theory of rolling friction which was developed by Takemura and Minato. Taking parameters which was concerned in testing conditions into consideration, friction coefficient was obtained as follows, μ=3.45•βS•E′-1/4•E′S+1/8βS is a function of tanδ, and particular values of either E′ and tanδ were the ones at deformation frequency (defined as the sliding velocity devided by the mean wave length of the asperities of the road surface). As deformation frequency was 4500Hz, and measuring frequency of viscoelasticity was 10Hz, so the temperature of the dynamic measurement with 10Hz, equivalent to the one with 4500Hz at sliding temperature, was calculated according to the Time-Temperature superposition principle. Taking sample deformation frequency into consideration, E′S was value at frequency 10Hz. The observed wet friction coefficients agreed well with those of calculated which were based on viscoelastic study on 15 kinds of test pieces.
