In the previous paper, we suggested that rennin coagulation inhibitor was found in salts and peptides fraction (F-A), and in proteins fraction (F-B) in pig serum, and the inhibitor in F-B was α2-macroglobulin (α2 M). The purpose of this paper was to study the inhibiting ability of α2-M and mam-malian sera. Results were as follows; 1) Pulified α2-M inhibited enzymatic phase of rennin coagulation (rennin action on k-casein). It was clear from the above results that the rennin coagulation inhibitor in serum proteins was a2-M. 2) When a2-M was brought into contact with rennin, its rennin did not coagulate k-casein. When α2-M was brought into contact with k-casein, however, rennin coagulated its k-casein. This fact indicated that α2-M attacked rennin. 3) We studied the relation between rennin inhibiting ability of six mammalian sera and their α2-M, and it was found that rennin inhibiting ability of sera was chiefly related to amount of α2-M in sera.
