• It was recently reported that hydroxylamine provoked the formation of virus molecules in the body of silkworm. As it is presumed that this amine exists in plants and animals as the combined form of oximes, it was supposed that these oximes can likewise bring about the virus formation. In order to confirm such assumption the silkworms were fed with the mulberryleaves which were moistened with a dilute acetoxime solution. After.a latent period virus molecules appear in treated worm bodies. It was observed that the proteolytic enzyme in silkworm is activated by the feeding of oxime.
