A case of ectopic extramammary Paget's disease appearing on the upper abdomen

A 65-year-old Japanese woman, who underwent an operation for uterine cancer and gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumor in 2003, had noticed a small patch in the upper part of her abdomen for 13 years. The lesion tended to enlarge gradually, and she came to our hospital in August 2006. Physical examination revealed a sharply demarginated brown plaque with smooth surface measuring 40×27-mm. Histologically malignant cells with abundant pale cytoplasm were observed, and we first suspected malignant melanoma in situ. Immunohistologically, the malignant cells were negative for HMB45, S100, and positive for CK7, CEA, Alcian-Blue. Finally the patient was diagnosed with ectopic extramammary Paget's disease. There was no evidence of internal or metastatic lesions. We excised the lesion with surgery skin of 3 cm. At present there has been no sign of local reccurence or metastasis for 2 years after the surgery. [Skin Cancer (Japan) 2008; 23: 215-220]
