A general method of sampling and preparation of sample cannot be applied on sponge titanium manufactured by the Kroll Process because of uneven distribution of impurities and lacking of uniformity of composition depending on the size of particles, besides the pulverization of sample is extremely difficult. The following method is established for preparing homogeneous sample from population of sponge titanium after many tests.<BR>(1) A large mass of sample is made by an increment method selecting the number and size of sample.<BR>(2) The final sample is obtained using a riffle divider.<BR>(3) The preparation of sample for analysis from the final sample is made by compacting and drilling.<BR>Procedures (1) and (2) were reported already. The procedure (3) is carried out as follows : After pressing the final sample, the compact is drilled at its center in the way of obtaining the drillings weighing over 1/3 of the compact. The sampling by this method gave the most satisfactory result which was proved by statistical means.
