A method is described wherein fluorine is determined in aliphatic fluorochlorocompounds such as "Freon" by combustion procedure at about 1000°C in an atmosphere of oxygen and ammonia utilizing a platinum combustion tube, followed by the aluminium chloride titration using Eriochromcyanine R as the indicator. These results are excellent, provided that the content of fluorine in sample taken is not over about 20 mg. The proposed method may be applicable to the determination of fluorine in any readily volatile substances, or liquid and solid in ordinary state. Rapidity and simplicity are among the advantages of the method.
