• The materials of the present study were obtained from Iwate and Tiba Prefectures in the summer of 1937. The contents of their digestive canals were found composed of mainly vegetable matters, namely, Brown algae (Undaria, Desmarestia, Alaria, Eisenia, Sargassum etc.) and eel grass (Phyllospadix). Very rarely, a small quantity of some kinds of Red algae, Diatoms and the fragments of animal matters (Hydrozoa and copepods etc.) were also found. It is very remarkable that Desmarestia and Phyllospadix constituted chief foods of the mollusca in question.
