• It is notable enough that Dr. BOERGESEN(2) treated of 5 species of deep sea algae collected at the depth of about 200 meters near Canary Is., almost at the same time as our previous report(1) was issued. In his paper, we found very interesting fact that 3 genera and 1 species, Callymenia reniformis) coincide with those from our deep seas. Hereupon, we continued the further research of the growing-zone of marine algae on the western coast of Izu district, having depths of from 20 to 210 meters. In our present research, however, we could not find any algae from the bottom deeper than 80 meters and only 21 species were collected from the depth of 20-60 meters.
