The resting zone of the scale of this fish seems to be formed during June to August in rather young specimens of about 21cm long, in which the scales are provided with 1 or 2 resting zones. But this fact is not ascertained yet in specimens larger, than those given above. The growth obtained from the scale analysis differs by localities from which the materials are taken, viz, the growth of the fish collected from Tokyo Bay and. its adjacent waters is smaller than that of the fish secured from the Inland Sea Harimanada, but larger than that of the fish taken from Sanriku, Pacific Ocean. Whilst the average body-lengths led from back-calculation basing on scale are as follows, l1=21, l2=32, l3=42, l4=50, 15=55cm.
