We studied the seasonal variation of crude oil, unsaponifiable matter and sterol of Sargassum Ringgoldianum Harv. (Brown algae.) The results obtained were as the following. (1) As we show in Table 1 and Fig. 2, the younger algae has more crude oil than old algae. (2) But just before its sheding, the content of oil and its unsaponifiable matter and sterol increases a little, and decreases after sheding.
