Serum MDA value of alcoholics was elevated and discontinuation of alcohol intake lowered the value. Also, in experimental rats, MDA value of the liver was significantly increased in alcoholic rats, comparing with control rats. Prolonged alcohol intake seems to produce lipoperoxide in the liver, which might be involved in hepatic cell damage.
