Clinical studies on non-A, non-B post-transfusion hepatitis.

We have analyzed the clinical data of 43 patients with Type non-A, non-B post-transfusion hepatitis (Type NANB PTH) and 116 patients with other type of acute viral hepatitis. Incidences of symptoms and of abnormal S-GPT elevation were lower in Type NANB acute hepatitis than in Type A or B acute hepatitis. Duration of liver functional disorder, however, was longer and the incidence of chronicity was significantly higher in Type NANB hepatitis than in Type A or Type B acute hepatitis.<BR>Incubation periods of Type NANB PTH were shorter than of Type B PTH.<BR>However some patients with Type NANB PTH may be convalescing statisfactorily like patients with Type B PTH, we failured to make clear their characteristic clinical feature in this study.<BR>Type NANB chronic hepatitis may have a better prognosis than Type B chronic hepatitis.
