Aerial photography started on 14th of January and finished on 13 th of February and only nine flights could be done in this duration. 750 sheets of vertical photograph by K 17 camera and 450 sheets of oblique photograph by F 24 camera had been taken over approximately of 2, 000 flying miles. The average flying altitude for vertical photography was 5, 000 feet and that for oblique photography was 3, 000 feet. In such ways, the coast of Prince Harald Land and Prince Olav could be photographed.<BR>The author would like to suggest the following equipment and operation procedures from my experience.<BR>Aeroplane ; Although the Cessna 180 gave us rather good service, I would not recommend it for aerial photography in Antarctica. I would advocate a bigger aeroplane and if possible, a high wing, and twine engine aeroplane.<BR>Camera ; The K 17 C camera with lens of six inches focal length has a heating jacket, magazine heater and heating wires on filter, but these were not necessary for our operation. In the authors opinion, a new instrument should be installed to be automatically operated for recording the number, time, altitude, air speed, and the bearing of the plane at each exposure for vertical photography.<BR>Film ; The film used Eastman Kodak super XX Aerographic Film (9.5 inches × 150 feet roll) and Sakura Aero Film (5.5 inches ×56 feet roll) These films were quite satisfactory for our photography.<BR>Exposure and Filter ; Most of the vertical photographs were exposured at 1/400 second and F : 11 or F : 8 with No. 2 Aero vignetted filter, but the heating wires on the filter were not used.<BR>Development and Printing ; Development and Printing had been carried out on our ship in the Antarctic. All rolls of film were developed in D 76 Developer under the condition of 20°C and about 30 minutes in B-5 Developing Kit. Drying Kit was not nsed for drying.
