Hepatic Arterial Infusion Therapy for Unresectable Colorectal Liver Metastases.

[Purpos] Hepatic arterial infusion using 5FU for colorectal liver metastasis was evaluated. (Method) A dose of 360mg/m2 of 5FU was infused using a extracorporeal pump for 2 or 4 weeks (P 1, P 2 ). After a 7-day interval, 180mg/m2 of 5FU was infused for 7 days. This 7-day infusion/ 7-day no infusion cycle was repeated. P 3 : A dose of 1000mg/m2 of 5FU was infused for 5 hours once a week. P 4 : Using Infusaid, 250mg of 5FU was infused with one injection of 4-6 mg of MMC once a month. [Results] In the P 1 and P 2 protocol, 19 patients were, the subiects and CR was observerd in three, PR in eight, NC in 6 and PD in two, with a response rate of 61.1%. Of four patients who were subjects in the P 3 protocol, CR and PR were observerd in one patient respectively and two patients. Of 11 patients in the P 4 protocol, nine were evaluable : five showd PR, one patient showed NC and three showed PD. Duodenal massive bleeding was complicated in three patients in the P1 and P 4 with successful emergency suegery. [Conclusion] Hepatic afterial infusion may benefit patients with unresectable colorectal liver metastasis by reducing the size of liver tumors.
