1. A Case Report of Tuberculous Ulcer of the Anal Region

Tuberculosis of the anorectal region is now a rare disease in Japan. However, the possibility of anorectal tuberculous ulceration must be considered when any patient have chronic perianal lesion which resists usual treatments.<BR>A 65-year-old man was admitted to our clinic with the complaints of pain and hemorrhage of perianal ulceration. The onset was perianal eczema-like lesion which occurred about two years prior to the admission.<BR>Chest X-ray examination revealed active pulmonary tuberculosis with positive acid-fast bacilli in the sputum, and histological examination of perianal lesion showed typical tuberculous granulomas with epitheloid cells and Langghans giant cells, surrounding early stage of necrotic foci, and diagnosis of secondary tuberculosis of anorectal region which was classified as ulcerative tuberculosis by Bacon was made.<BR>The patient was treated with SM, PAS and INAH. The perianal ulceration disap-peared completely after six months.
