A therapeutic experience with Bufexamac ointment, a non-steroidal, ant-inflammatory agent, in 50 patients with anal wound after the excision of internal haemorrhoids, showed the following high rate efficacy :
Scores were : 20 cases (40%) of " markedly effective " ; 18 cases (36%) of " effective " ; 12 cases (24%) of " not effective " ; and none of " aggravated ". In other words, out of the total number of 50 cases, 38 cases (76%) were "markedly effective" and "effective". In the 7 incarcerated cases, all showed the effectiveness of the drug. Improved symptoms were observed as follows : Of 50 cases, 44 cases (88%) showed improvement to pain ; of 50 cases, 45 cases (90%) to bleeding ; of 48 cases, 42 cases (87.5%) to swelling ; of 22 cases, 15 cases (68.2%) to eczema ; of 41 cases, 21 cases (51.2%), to irritation. From these observa-tions, it is assumed that Bufexamac is an agent widely effective to haemorrhoids, anal fis-sure, and eczema around anus with pain, bleeding, and swelling.
No side effects were reported.
