Copyright (c) 2006 by The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication EngineersThe band structure of a photonic crystal slab is analyzed by the finite-element method. Here, a curvilinear mixed-interpolation-type triangular-prism element is proposed so as to express cylindrical air holes of a photonic crystal slab smoothly enough in fewer elements. The numerical results are presented to show the usefulness of the analysis method.
