This paper seeks to position the increasingly popular concept of multifunctional land use in the context of urban planning and urban land rent theory. It aims to design a framework for identifying the benefits of multifunctionality in land use by offering a typological approach to three classes of actors (stakeholders and beneficiaries) involved, viz. investors, organizations and users.JEL Classification: R14, R52
