In our laboratory, effort has been devoted to stress research in human subjects, with emphasis on cardiovascular hemodynamics. Noninvasive and less constraint measurement of hemodynamic parameters, as well as that of the underlying autonomic ones, has been our concern. And modeling which links mental stress to cardiovascular hemodynamics has been tried. Some of our works are outlined in Chapter 1, in accordance with an illustrative figure of experimental system utilized in our research. Importance of blood pressure measurement is underlined, and attention-affect model is advocated. In line with this, in Chapter 2, examinations of structural elasticity, as well as of vascular tone, in the finger artery are summarized in relation to health and disease. Similarly, in Chapter 3, recent data on functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and event-related potentials are discussed from the viewpoint of attention-affect model.
