This paper presents an adaptive equalization-cancellation (EC) model for binaural signal processing in the presence of reverberation and its application to sound localization. A modified version of EC model to account for the effect of reverberation is proposed by adapting the EC parameters to reverberation level using direct-to-reverberant energy ratio. The proposed model is applied into EC-BEAM, the previous proposed method for binaural sound source localization based on EC model, resulting in an adaptive EC-BEAM algorithm. Experimental results demonstrate that the adaptive EC-BEAM method outperforms the original EC-BEAM and the traditional GCC-PHAT algorithms under noisy reverberant environments.
