A compaction procedure of snow removal was proposed by students for saving a space of a repository site. Inthe process, the wasted snow on the truck vehicle has compressed in the site for converting an ice block. Thecompressed block has transferred to the repository site and manipulated for piling or arrangement for disposing. Ademonstration test was performed for confirming the proposed plan. In the test, the snow was packed in cylinder forsimple compression test. The test was controlled by pressure p acting on a plunger until p = 4 MPa. Dry and wetsnows were compacted to the column completely. The relative density ρ of the column was almost ρ = 0.92 and thevolume was decrease in 50 % with p = 4 MPa. Then, a bending test was performed for assuring strength of the columnfor the manipulation. A cantilever of the column was bent by own weight in quasi-static state. In the test, somecolumns having several densities were clamped at the end of the column as cantilever. The limits of the length of thecolumn were investigated until a fracture. A relationship between density and length of the column was estimated.The column maintained the length up to 6 times of diameter for the ρ > 0.7. It is found that, a capability of theproposed plan was confirmed.
