This paper is a practical report of the combined English extensive reading classes which have been given in the 1st, 2nd and3rd school year of our college. They consist of three learning ways, free LLL (Language Learner Literature) reading in thelibrary, tasked LLL reading in the classroom, and skill-based textbook reading. The latter two ways were introduced, since theentirely SSS-based class faced some difficulties, such as a shortage of word count to read and a slump of some students. Fromthe results of the proficiency tests, it became clear that the combined English extensive reading classes are effective inimproving English ability. In addition, the results of the questionnaires show that this method can motivate students to learnEnglish. Through the seven years' practice, it was also found that teachers should become more familiar with LLL books andprepare appropriate and interesting books for students.
