Recently a fluid dynamic bearing is widely used as the bearing of HDD spindle motor because of small rotational vibration. However, the high speed rotation rises the temperature of the hydrodynamic oil in bearings, and the high temperature accelerates the evaporation of hydrodynamic oil. The vapor flows out from a bearing and adsorbs on magnetic disk eventually. It disturbes a normal read/write operation of the flying magnetic head. In this study, we focused on the diamagnetism of ester lubricant oil and investigated how the magnetic field works on the lubricant oil vapor. We evaporated the lubricant oil and compared the amount of evaporation of it though two slits, with magnet and with no magnet. And, we confirmed that it's possible to reduce the amount of the vapor using the magnetic field.
