I created the system which designs the contour of the noncircular gear pair which corresponds to line of free pitch curve. This system, when information of three items (number of teeth, center distance, motion curve which is sought) is given, calculates the contour of the drive gear and the follow gear geometrically, and creates the design & manufacturing data with private CAD/CAM. The noncircular gear was made by using the processing data output by this system and the machining centre, and the rotation transmission was evaluated. As a result, there was no problem in a general pattern about static engaging accuracy and a dynamic transmission movement. However, a new problem was found in a big pattern of the curvature static engaging accuracy, and the improvement was needed.
