Researching costal strain to lead to the rib fracture of rib cage in the traffic accident, 4^th and 5^th costal strains in the root, the middle, and the tip of the inner surface were measured using the strain gauges. The specimen used was porcine thorax, the size of which was approximately equal to human thorax, after removing the only internal organs. The experimental setup applied free falling weight (m=21kg) was used, and falling height was set to 100mm 200mm and 300mm. In experiments, two specimens were used for each falling height. As the result of impact pectoral compression test, observed 4^th ribs fractures in the drop height at the 300mm and the following findings were achieved. The strain increases as lead to the tip of the rib, and it is around over 10000μs in the tip of the ribs. Threshold vale of strain that the ribs fracture broken out is around 5000μs in the middle of the ribs.
