To improve the isolation of impact noise, many resilient materials have recently been installed in residential buildings. This study focuses on the load condition of the floating floor layer over resilient material as a way to establish a method of reducing light-weight impact noise. We studied the correlation between the mass or load of the floating floor layer, and the reduction of light-weight impact noise, using experiments to test the impact noise in a reverberation chamber. The results show that the reduction of impact noise is improved by increasing the mass per unit area of floating layer up to about 140 kg/m^2. But simply adding load on the floating floor layer does not have a significant effect on the light-weight impact noise.
