Sonochemical reduction of Pd(II) ions in the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and NaBr was performed in argon-saturated aqueous solutions to form size- and shape-controlled Pd nanoparticles. The formed Pd particles were characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, etc. It was found that the formed Pd colloidal solution showed an absorption peak at near infrared region. The effects of experimental parameters on the property of the formed Pd colloidal solution were also investigated.
