The IEEE 802.19.1 white space coexistence system provides mechanisms for coexistence of white space radio systems of different types operating at the same geographical location. It collects information about radio environment of the radio systems, evaluates potential interference between them, and provides reconfiguration requests to them when needed. Two key algorithms are used in the IEEE 802.19.1 white space coexistence system: neighbor discovery algorithm and coexistence decision making algorithm. The neighbor discovery algorithm evaluates the levels of potential interference between radio systems if they use the same frequency band. The coexistence decision making algorithm creates such configuration of the operating frequencies of the white space radio systems that they can provide maximum throughput to their users. This paper shows results of the analysis of the improvement in throughput of the white space radio systems performed by using simulation. QualNet simulation platform have been selected. Two types of the white space radio systems have been selected: IEEE 802.11 with 5MHz bandwidth and IEEE 802.11 with 10MHz bandwidth. Up to 50 radio systems of each type have been simulated, where one radio system have one access point and three stations. The gain in the throughput caused by using the IEEE 802.19.1 coexistence system has been analyzed.
