The purposes of present study were to assess the validity of rule-system (see Fig.1.) through training the transformation-operations of coordinate system between the viewpoints and to make sure of effect of training program.Based on performance levels of the projection test for 34 first-grade children (6:11), six pairs of matched subjects who had not yet acquired rule-system were selected. They were assigned to either the training or control group. The training program of 8 steps consisted of the following four subordinate operations which are assumed to underlie the rulesystem; identification of the origin, exchange of the axes, reversal of the axis, and transformation of the coordinates from the other's view to child own view. The outline of training program is illustrated Fig.5. . Main results were as follows: (1)The rule-levels of each subjects were improved from low to high by the training program (see Table 1). (2) The change of transformation-rules through the training prove the validity of rule-system which is constructed with three factors; exchange of the axes, reversal of the axis, and degree of persistence of the child's own view. (3) The acquired transformation ability improved highly the performance of Piaget's "three-mountain task", suggesting that the rule-system acquired children are able to apply its rules for another kind of spatial task (see Table 5).
