This paper reviewed studies that reported on sense of direction questionnaires in terms of their construct processes, the contents of their sub-scales, and their relations to spatial tasks. In the construct processes, the number of items used in pilot studies was small. In the contents of subscales, it was common among studies to possess sub-scales which measured awareness of orientation, and memory for usual spatial behavior. In the relations to spatial tasks, the relation between sense of direction questionnaires and spatial tasks was strong in many studies. In the future, to construct sense of direction questionnaires which have high predictive validity, it is necessary to increase the number of items, to consider what elements are included in sense of direction, and to construct items which are easy for participants to understand.
