• Acute toxicities and analgesic activities of the extract from Aconitum roots (Aconitum yesoense var. macroyesoense (NAKAI) TAMURA) and of the main alkaloidal components and pseudokobusine derivatives were examined. Aconitum roots and the main alkaloids showed only a weak acute toxicity. In mice, its water and methanol extracts (200 mg/kg), lucidusculine (1,100 mg/kg), 14-acetyldelcosine (5,100 mg/kg), and tribenzoylpseudokobusine (10) significantly inhibited the writhing movements induced by acetic acid. Tribenzoylpseudokobusine showed about the same analgesic activity as aminopyrine when administered at the same dose (50 mg/kg).
