The modern globalization of the economy extends itself to social systems as well as the globalization of culture, and the promotion of international interaction becomes more crucial to Japanese universities. In this circumstance, the acceptance of international students from Southeast Asian countries in particular is essential not only from the view point of conventional support but also for the continued development of Asian countries. Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT) started an international joint graduate level education program, so called Hybrid Twinning Program (HTP), in 2005 with partner universities in Southeast Asian countries. After starting HTP, South East Asian Technical University Consortium (SEATUC) was established among partner universities and SIT in 2006 to strengthen academic relations. SEATUC holds a meeting and a technical symposium annually, aiming for comprehensive exchange activities among partner universities. The activities in SEATUC, which are discussed annually at a meeting, are expanding.
