Statistics is inevitable in order to fully understand psychology. However, many students majoring in psychology are weak in math,so that it is difficult to motivate them to study statistics based on math. The present study examined the effects of their attendance, theirefforts in assignments, their experience in math, and self-report confidence in math on the score of their final examinations. As a result, thescore of their final examinations were strongly influenced by the total number of assignments handed in, and some by their experience inmath. The degree to which extent they say they were good at math did not correlate with the final score, when attendance and the number of assignments handed in were statistically controlled. The present study showed the importance of continuous efforts in learning statistics.
