This paper deals with the extensive reading classes at Kagawa National College of Technology, Takuma Campus whichhave been introduced based on the results of needs analysis and the students' English learning situations. According to theresults of needs analysis, the students prefer listening, reading aloud and extensive reading as activities in English classes toimprove their English communicative abilities. In this paper, I will focus on extensive reading among the three activitiesand show the rationale of how and why I constructed the extensive reading environment at the school library. I will alsodiscuss how the extensive reading classes have been held, and indicate what effects have been observed regarding thestudents' feelings or attitudes toward English learning through the results of a questionnaire survey. I will also show theimprovement of the students' English communicative abilities referring to the results of A.C.E.(Assessment ofCommunicative English).
