The need for Energy Management System (EMS) is growing day by day. US, Europe and other countries plan to deploy the advanced EMS which enables Demand Response, Meter Reading, and Automated Billing system and so on. Also in emerging countries such as India, EMS is very important in the different meanings, because the electricity is not always available, and they have much more frequent blackouts. The reason behind these blackouts is due to lack in energy generation when comparing with their demand. In India the consumer has to take care of power supply during blackout by off-grid power systems. In our project, we focus on energy management in university buildings in India. In this paper, we clearly clarify the cause of blackouts by measurement and analysis of energy consumption and energy supply data. The current consumption data for one day event is compared with supply data at the substation which shows the power supply from government and diesel generator.
