This paper examines how Japanese learners acquire usages of "no" such as the particles and the formal noun by analyzing samples from their Japanese compositions. The result shows that they mainly use "no" of the adnominal particle in noun modification and the formal noun with complement constructions in their compositions, and that they make considerable number of errors in both cases. However, the decline of the error rate in total samples between intermediate and advanced learners shows that their acquisition proceeds as their language level advances. In addition, some unique error patterns are observed from the extracted samples.
