Though traditional routing protocols for Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs), that preselect one or more optimized fixed routes before transmissions start and use a fixed neighbor to forward a packet in each hop, have been researched, those protocols are not effective to the dynamic wireless environment where transmission failures occur frequently. In this paper, we propose a novel multicast routing protocol for MANETs called Geo-Opportunistic Multicast Routing (GOMR) which takes full advantage of the broadcast nature of wireless channel and opportunistic forwarding. GOMR uses geographic information of each node to select forwarder sets for each destination and aggregates them to a multicast forwarding table to optimize multicast efficiency. GOMR supports high mobility of nodes and scalability effectively.
