New Quinic Acid Derivatives from the Fruits of Chaenomeles sinensis (Chinese Quince)

A 90% EtOH extract of fruits of Chaenomeles sinensis KOEHNE (Chinese quince) yielded five quinic acid derivatives, including one new compound established as 5-O-p-coumaroylquinic acid butyl ester along with caffeic acid and protocatechic acid. In the in vitro assay of inhibitory effect on the histamine release from rat mast cells induced by compound 48/80, this new ester type compound showed high level of inhibition compared with its carboxylic acid form.
